lost in translation

the other day in the supermarché 2 ladies got into an argument just because of me, and the situation was sooo complicated that i just said nothing, and let them finish. en plus there was this annoying guy right behind me continuellement saying "it's because of toi" and his wife was hitting him with her sac to shut him up.

I CANNOT TALK.. i can understand like whats going on, i can write, i've even managed to write an essai explaining the payed vacations (i've even forgotten how to say that in english?!) and work conditions of turquie in my examen but I CANNOT TALK. i dont know if it's because whenever i try to talk them french answer me in english, or just if i start a conversation i'll get lost of what's going on keep nodding like a fool all the time. its no problème with my friends, with people i know, but with others.. i'm just perdue!

other than that today we were go on a pique-nique and i forgot the key of the appartement inside. we had to call a locksmith ofcourse, we payed 90 euros for him to break the lock and now it costs 800euros to get another one! my boyfriend, he'll look for a cheaper one tomorrow (and i do really hope he finds one or else i'll be complètement broke). Until then, one of us has to stay in the appartement because we can open it from inside but not from outside. yeah so i have like couple of weeks left here and i cannot leave this freaking appartement in which i am staying in almost naked because it is just HOT! it rained through out the whole time i was here and now its sunny and i cannot sortir!!!!

so yes, as always, i am just bored and writing. and even though that i do not adore paris (and i think i will as soon as i can speak fluently), i truly regret the fact that probablement i will not be able to come here this fall. and god knows, what i'll do. i'm like planning to move back in with my parents and wait for l'arrivée of the day when i'll rest in peace in a mental institution.

et si tu ne comprends rien, s'il te plais, sois mon ami(e)! j'ai vraiment besoin d'un personne qui ne parle pas anglais, donc on peut tjrs parler en français, et je te promis, je serais sage (:

800 euros?!?!?! Which in the US that would mean like $1600 to get a lock?! That's so ridiculous! But I couldn't even imagine some of the frustrations that must come with language barriers, and I just admire and commend you on your valiant efforts to live in a foreign place! As many things do in life, I'm sure with time and practice, it'll become second nature to you. :hug:

Je me demandais pourquoi ce que tu écrivais me semblait si familier... C'est que je parle aussi un peu comme ça: en anglais et en français dans les mêmes phrases, en changeant sans prévenir. C'est troublant parfois de ne pas savoir quelle langue on parle, mais de pouvoir comprendre ce qu'on nous dit.

you should have called the fireman instead. sometimes they can manage to enter the apartment from a window that isn't locked :)

yes very expensive isnt it? well he managed to find a cheaper one and we installed it by ourselves thanks to ikea practices (:
i think i'm getting better and better by each day but i'll be leaving soon, so we'll see in september if i'll be able to come back again, things will be smoother i hope(:

qui qui exactement! tu habites où? tu parles bien français(: français est une langue très intéressante. dans ma classe de grammaire il y a bcp de personnes qui parle français parfaitement, ils habitaient en France depuis 1 an, 2 ans, il y a un qui habitait ici depuis 4 ans, mais ils sont en le même niveau que moi. quand je vois exemples comme ça, je me dis je pourrai jamais arriver à apprendre français. mais oui, tu as raison, il y a bcp de façons de communiquer, à la fin, qui est important est on réussit à faire communiquer, malgré les mots et la langue on utilise (:
